Reid Physiotherapy is dedicated to delivering quality physiotherapy services to assist residents of Industrial Cape Breton regardless of age, social, cultural and racial background thus enabling these residents to maintain their maximum independence while still living in their own home communities.
Our dedicated team of physiotherapists, occupational therapist, clinical psychologist, dietician and administrators are the heart of the company. Because of our staff’s advanced training, we are pleased to offer direct-care physiotherapy.
Guy Reid, Physiotherapist, Certified Athletic Therapist
Guy is the company owner, manager and clinical coordinator. A graduate of Dalhousie School of Physiotherapy in 1992, Guy first attended and graduated from Acadia University in 1986 and 1989. As a Certified Athletic Therapist, his clinical focus has been sports medicine but for the past 22 years has been primarily involved with industrial rehabilitation and the functional assessment process with the Workers Compensation Board. Trained as a Key and Workwell Assessment Evaluator, Guy has had extensive experience in all aspects of functional testing and its application.
Mike Wadden, Physiotherapist
Mike is from Sydney River and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University in 2002. He has been employed with our facility since 2003. He has extensive experience working with WCB patients, motor vehicle accidents, sports injuries, and a variety of orthopaedic injuries, including post-operative patients. He has also done medical coverage with a variety of sporting events, including curling, soccer, basketball, hockey and track and field. He enjoys working with clients of all ages and believes that patients should be active participants in their own recovery and rehabilitation. He is committed to working with clients to help them achieve their goals.
He has taken multiple post-graduate courses, including acupuncture, manual therapy, movement impairment syndromes, ACL injury rehabilitation, and post-operative shoulder rehabilitation.
In 2015, Mike completed the Contemporary Neurofunctional Acupuncture Program at McMaster University. It is a peripheral nerve stimulation technique, which involves the insertion of acupuncture needles with or without electrical stimulation, which can be used to modulate abnormal activity in the nervous system, including various injuries and myofascial trigger points. He has a keen interest in treatment of myofascial restriction, repetitive strain injuries and sports injuries, including ACL and shoulder rehabilitation. He has also recently completed training in radial shockwave therapy.
Mike has been active in sports his entire life, including basketball, soccer, tennis and cycling. He has been coaching school basketball for the past 15 years locally as well.
Karen Hurley, Office Manager
Karen graduated with an Executive Secretarial Diploma from the Cape Breton Business College in 1996. She has been employed within the private practice physiotherapy field ever since. Karen is responsible for all aspects of our daily office management, including the computerized billing system and company policy administration.
Debbie Madore, Consultant Dietitian
Debbie has provided dietary programs for Reid Physiotherapy for the past 10 years. Her role includes individual and group education sessions and nutritional planning and supervision.
Michael Bryson, Clinical Psychologist
Michael owns and operates Bryson Consulting Services and provides psychological services to all clients at Reid Physiotherapy. Michael’s role includes the Workers’ Compensation Board’s Chronic pain program and individual psychological assessment and treatment.
